Chocolate Fondue

Here is another special treat that is a snap to make. Serve it with small bowls of cut up fruits such as apples, pears, bananas and strawberries. Also, dried apricots, marshmallows, cubes of pound cake, shortbread cookies and anything else you can imagine! Everything tastes better with chocolate! I personally prefer my fondue without liqueur but traditionally, there is liqueur in the recipe. Do whatever you like! Serves 2 people 1 Fondue Pot with forks (I got mine at TJ Maxx for less than $12.00) 6 ounces good quality chocolate broken into small pieces (I prefer very dark but any will do) 4 - 6 ounces heavy cream 1 - 2 ounces liqueur (Kahlua, Framboise, Grand Marnier or whatever you like) Heat the heavy cream until scalding (that means not quite a boil). (Hey you can do that in the wave!) Pour it over the chocolate and let it sit a few minutes to melt the chocolate. Stir until well combined. If it is too thick, add more cream until you reach desired consistency. Add liqueur if you like. Place in fondue pot and serve with small dishes of "dippable " items. |
